In India, prices of 30s combed cotton yarn for knitting fell INR4 a kg in the first week of September (down US cents 7 a kg) in Ludhiana in line with weak fibre cost during the week. Prices have declined for more than 5% since first week of August.

In China, cotton yarn prices were stable that week as fibre prices were not moving. Cotton yarn market saw moderate transaction during the week. Although the number of orders grew slightly, participants did not hold sufficient confidence on market sentiment in the future. The demand for C32S and JC21S improved slightly, while other specs saw lackluster demand, mainly from old customers. The prices of open-end spun cotton yarn kept firm amid better sales.
