Caprolactum prices rise on moderate demand in Asia

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2016-06-07 07:07:17 –

In China, offers for liquid spot rose US$15 a ton in the last week of May while solid goods offers were flat on the week.

Asian markers, the SE and FE markers rolled over during the week. Sinopec reduced its May contract nomination by US$80 a ton for liquid goods.

Caprolactum prices bounced back that week on moderate demand and reduced supply resulting from operating rate cuts. However, benzene cost eased sharply as prices fell across regions.

Demand for caprolactum rose slightly as run rates at polymerization units were maintained above 70% amid poor inventory level.

Run rates at nylon yarn makers were at 75%, with inventory at 30 worth days. In China, offers for liquid goods were quoted higher than last week while those for solid goods were flat.
