ASF prices stable in China and India, up in Pakistan

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2015-12-24 06:34:45 –

In China, offers for cotton-type staple fiber were stable at US$1.82-2.04 a kg while medium-length staple rolled over at US$1.83-2.04 a kg in the second week of December.

Jilin Chemical Fiber maintained its list prices for December with 1.5D at US$2.04 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.04 a kg, tow at US$2.11 a kg and top at US$2.25 a kg.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices were at US$1.60-1.70 a kg.

Acrylic staple fibre markets maintained a stable price curve that week despite upstream, acrylonitrile values jumping, imposing stronger cost pressure.

However, downstream yarn prices were generally unchanged, but production enthusiasm remained low due to limited terminal needs.

Overall, buying atmosphere somewhat improved, so inventory was tolerable amid fair liquidity.

Prices rolled over in India as trading remained mute, given thin buying interest of downstream mills amid insipid yarn performance. ASF offers were steady at INR129-131 a kg or US$1.93-1.98 a kg.

In Pakistan, ASF market was not active due to limited terminal demand. 1.2D ASF prices were up US cents 4 a kg due to strong currency.

ASF markets are expected to run on a weak note in coming week, as a result of underperforming enduse sector.
