ASF price remains stable in Asia

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2015-10-29 06:44:07 –

In the third week of October, offers for cotton-type staple fiber in China were stable at US$2.11-2.23 a kg while medium-length staple were at US$2.12-2.22 a kg.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow was US cents 20 cheaper with offers at US$1.70-1.92 a kg. They were last revised down only in last week of September.

Jilin Chemical Fiber’s list prices for 1.5D were down for October at US$2.23 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.22 a kg, tow at US$2.30 a kg and top at US$2.44 a kg.

Acrylic fiber markets saw cost pressure easing during the week and prices were talked lower to track softening acrylonitrile values.

In China, the premium over Yuan-based prices, as well as expectation of further drop in fiber prices continued to limit buying interest.

Yarn suppliers maintained stable operation during the week and reported normal sales and inventory.

However, ASF buying was hand to mouth volumes.

Overall, with ACN prices stable-to-firm, ASF market may gain more support, while buyers will continue to buy hand to mouth.

In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices rolled over after dropping PakRs.35 last week to PakRs.240 a kg (US$2.30 a kg).

In India, ASF offers were flat at INR140-144 a kg or US$2.17-2.23 a kg, up US cent 1 due to stronger INR.
