ASF price declines in China, stable in India and Pakistan

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2015-12-17 07:16:53 –

In China, offers for cotton-type staple fiber declined US cents 10 a kg while medium-length staple fell to US$1.84-2.06 a kg in the first week of December.

Jilin Chemical Fiber maintained its list prices for December with 1.5D at US$2.06 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.05 a kg, tow at US$2.13 a kg and top at US$2.27 a kg.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices were down US cents 5-10 a kg.

Acrylic staple fibre makers faced higher cost pressure on rising acrylonitrile prices, and demand was not relatively supportive, although buying interest improved a bit following lower ASF prices.

In China, December list prices were maintained stable to November numbers. Upstream, offers still climbed mildly, indicating stronger cost pressure.

Downstream, yarn prices trended down in line with ASF values, while yarn production was subdued due to slow liquidity.

In India, ASF offers were steady at US$1.93-1.98 a kg.

In Pakistan, 1.2D ASF prices rolled at US$2.27 a kg on the week.
