Leonhard Kurz, based in Fürth, Germany, has received the 2026 Green Good Design Sustainability Award for its Recosys rPET Jersey. The textile is made entirely from recycled PET using the company’s Recosys 2.0 recycling process. In this system, PET materials collected from customers in the graphic arts sector are sorted and processed into high-quality recycled granules.
Working with partners such as Technofibres for yarn production and Hero Textil, the granules are converted into yarns and then into performance textiles. These materials can be used in various applications, especially in the automotive industry for products like seat covers, headliners, and door panels. Kurz also developed the textile surface using sublimation printing and metallic decoration through a hot-stamping process.
Theresa Stigler stated that sustainability is a key part of the company’s strategy. She added that Recosys aims to create closed material loops while supporting new design possibilities, and the award recognises this approach.
