Santini, Polartec launch jersey with carbon-captured materials

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-04-17 14:03:36 – Italy

Santini Cycling and Polartec, a brand of Milliken & Company, have jointly developed the Aero Race jersey. This high-performance cycling garment is partly made using recycled polyester fibres and yarns produced through a carbon capture process.

These materials are used to create Polartec Power Dry with Recycled Carbon fabric. The fabric used in this jersey contains 91 percent recycled content. It maintains strong performance by offering good breathability and temperature control during intense activities, while also reducing environmental impact.

Polartec and Santini state that the Aero Race jersey lowers carbon emissions by up to 66 percent compared to similar products made from virgin polyester. This reduction has been achieved without affecting comfort, durability, or the technical performance expected by cyclists.

The jersey has been tested and improved in a wind tunnel to enhance its aerodynamic performance. It includes carefully designed rear panels that create a close, second-skin fit, helping reduce air resistance. The sleeves also play an important role, featuring a special striped structure that improves airflow and reduces drag by supporting a vortex effect.
