Odisha to set up textile park under SITP scheme in Bhadrak district

The Odisha government to give a boost to its textile sector plans to develop an integrated textile park over 112 acres of land in Bhadrak district. A detailed project report of the proposed park has been sent to the textile ministry to grant funds under the Secheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) said an official of Idco (Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation), the land acquisition arm of the state government.

Following the release of a new draft standard for wool production created by not-for-profit organisation Textiles Exchange, Australian growers warned that failing to changes its approach to animal welfare would fall further behind their competitors said Italian wool buyer Modiano.

Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) sets out guidelines for growers to meet around animal welfare and sustainability and prohibits museling, the practice of surgically removing skin surrounding a sheep's tail to prevent fly-strike.

Polyester yarn price inches up in India on rising fiber price

In India, polyester fiber prices have risen in the third week of February with for 1.4D PSF up INR1 after falling INR 2 in early December.

Polyester yarn 30 knit yarn prices gained INR2 a kg (up US cent 1) in Ludhiana market while they gained INR1 a kg (up US cent 1) in Indore.

In Shengze, offers for 32s polyester yarn were at US$1.55-1.58 a kg, and 45s at US$1.72 a kg. In Changyi, offers for 32s were steady during the week.

Polyester yarn producers resumed operation slowly after the Lunar New Year holidays in China and some rigid demand will probably emerge.

PTA prices surge in Asia, down in Europe

Asian PTA markers were up US$5 a ton CFR China and Southeast in the third week of February.

In China, offers were between US$560-570 a ton, with buying ideas at US$550 a ton, but there was nearly no substantial deal concluded.

Yisheng Petrochemical’s cash-based price for PTA were at US$566 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offers in the range of US$585-595 a ton.

Purified terephthalic acid markets moved up from stability after the holidays in China, with price up from previous week.

Poor cotton production this season push govt to import 50m bales cotton

Pakistan’s cotton production during this season to March 1 has decline by 33.85 percent to 9.727 million bales due to pest attacks, inferior inputs and lowering yields which continues to hit the crop. In the same period of last year, it produced 14.705 million bales.

According Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) figures issued on Thursday, cotton output reduced to 5.951 million bales in Punjab from 10.741 million bales harvested a year earlier. Sindh’s production dropped marginally to 3.766 million bales, compared with 3.964 million bales last year.
