In China, offers for liquid good edged up US$40 a ton in the third week of March while solid goods offers were flat on the week. Asian markers, the SE and FE markers gained another US$30-50 a ton during the week.
Sinopec revised its March contract nomination which was up US$55 a ton for liquid goods while DSM Nanjing retained its March nomination at US$1,625 a ton for liquid goods.
High-end caprolactum for March was offered at US$1,300-1,350 a ton, with counter offers at US$1,200 a ton.
A buyer-seller meet on “the fabric and textile of northeast” an effort to link the gap was held on March 26 at Hotel Acacia Dimapur. Jayanta Thakuria from Fabric Plus, a manufacturing unit in Guwahati on Saturday addressing the meet said that silk products (Eri and Muga) have been directly or indirectly impacting the livelihood of 40,000 farmers in Northeast India.
Jayanta conveyed that around 150 metric tons of eri silk are produced annually from the Northeast region and silk products have started making their presence felt both in national and international markets.
In China, prices of 40s compact siro-spun yarn in Jiangsu were up US cents 5 a kg in the third week of March while 30s spun viscose in Xiaoshan rose US cents 5 a kg. Offers for ring-spun 30s yarn were at US$2.79-2.83 a kg.
Spun viscose yarn prices were hiked in China and India that week. In China, prices of vortex-spun and siro-spun yarn further moved up while prices of ring-spun and rotor-spun yarn also climbed, but actual transactions were lackluster. Core-spun yarn performance was modest.
In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices were up US cents 2 a kg in the third week of March while 45s PC combed yarn prices were also up US cents 2 a kg.
Blended spun yarn prices moved in different directions in China, in line with the trends of different fibers and strengthening of the currency. The recent surge in PSF prices has pushed blended yarn prices on local markets. On the import market, prices are too high to compete with domestic suppliers.
The United International Group (UIG) has urged the government for firm measures to protect cotton growers from any unpleasant situation in the future lest it bring down the annual production, said Mian Shahid, Chairman of the UIG.
