Turkey becomes the sixth largest textile exporter in the world

According to a note released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) on 25 August, Turkey was ranked the sixth largest textile and confection exporter of the world by making around 4 percent of such exports globally in 2014.

China topped the list with 41 percent, followed by India with 5.4 percent, Italy with 5.3 percent and Germany with 5 percent.

There has also been a decrease in the share of textiles trade in the world. While the share of the sector was 7 percent in global trade in 1995, this rate dropped to 4.6 percent in 2014.

H&M to introduce 16 new denim styles from recycled cotton

H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB, Swedish multinational retail-clothing company, known for its fast-fashion clothing to introduce new denim pieces made using recycled cotton next month. The company will introduce a total of 16 new denim styles that incorporate recycled cotton from textiles collected in through its in-store Garment Collecting Initiative.

The denim pieces include men’s, women’s and child’s styles, and they will be available in stores worldwide and online.

A contract has been signed with the China Textile Network Company Limited (CNTEX), a leading multinational company and specialised in apparel and textile industry for planning and designing of the Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park. The project would be providing all necessary facilities to textile and garments sector under one-roof, said Punjab Industrial Estates (PIE) Development and Management Company Chairman SM Tanveer on Tuesday.

Caprolactum price declines sharply in Asian market

In the second week of August, caprolactum prices softened reflecting weaker benzene and growing market length. Demand was bearish and low-end liquid spot offers were corrected down while offers for solid goods also fell. Upstream benzene market sentiment weakened as US crude futures was down for seventh consecutive week.

With the depreciating yuan , the rupee has fallen 3.60 percent to trade at 66.65 against the dollar early Monday. It has depreciated 5.52 percent so far this year. Depreciation in the rupee has prompted global textile and apparel importer to renegotiate the contract terms and prices with Indian exporters resulting in higher realization of export-driven products from India. Now, new contract orders are being deferred till the Indian currency stabilises.
