Polyester yarn price declines in Asia

In Shengze of Jiangsu, offers for 32s polyester yarn prices declined US cents 3 a kg in the last week of December 2015, and those for 45s fell US cents 4 a kg.

Spun polyester yarn price inched down in China amid poor sales situation. Offers were weakly stable amid thin transaction in line with PSF values that week.

Some sporadic deals were concluded on the back of limited demand.

Producers did not run at high rates, and they held low interest to buy raw materials. Most producers just bought goods to meet rigid demand were inclined to buy low-priced goods.

PTA price edges down in Asian markets

Asian PTA markers edged down US$1 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast in the last week of December 2015. CFR India also slipped US$1 a ton on the week.

In China, sellers showed low interest at US$580 a ton, while buyers were reluctant to buy goods at above US$550-555 a ton.

Yisheng Petrochemical’s offers were at US$574 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offers at US$605-610 a ton.

Purified terephthalic acid prices were stable weekend but edged down on the week, tracking the price movement in Northeast Asia.

ASF price remains stable despite weak acrylonitrile prices

In China, medium-length staple fiber prices remained unchanged while cotton-type staple rolled over in the last week of December 2015.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices were unchanged at US$1.60-1.70 a kg.

Jilin Chemical Fiber maintained its list prices for January with 1.5D at US$2.03 a kg, 3D medium-length at US$2.02 a kg, same as in December while tow was up US cents 1 to US$2.11 a kg and top up US cents 2 at US$2.26 a kg.

Acrylonitrile price sinks amid dull demand in Asia

Asian acrylonitrile marker the CFR Far East Asia moderated US$20 a ton while Southeast Asia fell US$35 a ton in the last week of December 2015.

In China, offers for offshore cargoes were unchanged at US$1,150-1,200 a ton.

Acrylonitrile spot markets in Asia remained snug, while buying interest was lusterless. Buyers bought hand to mouth volume, and were noncommittal to deep-sea cargoes due to long freight period.

In China, ACN suppliers slightly lowered their offers during the week. Downstream demand was insipid during the week as run rate at ASF producers remained high.

Pakistan’s textile industry fears of losing EU garments share to Vietnam

The Pakistan Readymade Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) Chief Coordinator Ijaz Khokhar said that the country’s export of textile and clothing have been declining sharply during the last six months (July-Dec) of 2015 and the government needs to take preventive measures to enhance textile exports.

Pakistan’s export market has already shrunk due to high energy cost and discriminating import duties on the industry's raw material and a decline in cotton production, said Ijaz Khokhar.
