State to provide fund to entrepreneurs for setting up micro textile parks

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has announced in the Assembly that State would grant Rs. 2.5 crore to provide infrastructure to those entrepreneurs who are interested to collectively come forward to set up micro textile units in textile centres.

This is to facilitate provision of electricity, water, construction of teleconference facility, marketing centres and common amenities in the micro textile parks set up out of the towns.

Polyester yarn market remains flat amid thin trade

In Qianqing, offers for 32s polyester yarn prices inched up US cents 2 a kg in the second week of January on the upper end, and those for 45s rolled over on the week.

Spun polyester yarn markets in China were weakly stable, and some sporadic deals were concluded. 32s spun polyester yarn was mainly offered at a roll over in Qianqing. Offers of spun polyester yarns in Shengze were kept steady amid mute trading atmosphere that week.

Some producers shut down units as they held low enthusiasm, and they showed low interest to buy raw materials except some rigid demand.

PTA prices plunge in Asia

Asian PTA markers fell US$18 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast in the second week of January.

In China, offers for bonded goods on one-day trip from suppliers moved down continuously, while buying interest remained softened. Buying ideas stayed below US$540 a ton, with the discussion at a stalemate.

Yisheng Petrochemical’s prices ranged between US$547-565 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offers at US$565-600 a ton.

Vinatex remains pessimistic about 2016

Vietnam will be able to attract other markets only when Vietnam can increase the production of input materials said Hoang Ve Dung, deputy general director of Vinatex. Although Foreign direct investment in the textile and garment sector of Vietnam has increased sharply recently. A report shows that FDI capital registered in the last year reached $1.5 billion, equal to total domestic investment.

The Vietnamese textile and garment companies have to slash selling prices to compete with rivals from China, India and Malaysia.

APTMA sought 5pc rebate on export of textile products

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) in light of low cotton production has put forth the demands before the government to wave off customs duty on cotton imports and has also demanded a five percent rebate on export of textile products.

Currently the importers are paying three percent customs duty on cotton.

The textile mills association Chairman Tariq Saud said that at least 110 factories are shut at the time.

The Indian textile industry has recommended the government to levy goods and services tax (GST) on ex-factory price, which is always much lower than the maximum retail price (MRP) as it would leave some leg room for periodic discount offers. It has also warned the government that if the GST is levied on MRP then it would have multiple ill effects on the entire sector.

Yarn Expo Spring 2016, to see increase in exhibitor numbers as with still two months to go exhibitor number and the scale of the fair have surpassed the organizers’ expectation, and to accommodate the increased size, they have been obliged to increase the amount of available hall space by 40 percent. The fair will now occupy hall 5.1 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from 16 – 18 March.

The gross area of 14,000 sqm is an expansion of 40 percent from the 2015 Spring Edition (10,000 sqm, 238 exhibitors).

Inaugurating the 62nd National Garment Fair in Mumbai on Wednesday, Kavita Gupta, Textile Commissioner, said that the draft of the new textile policy is ready and the Centre would be announcing soon the final version which will boost sagging exports and encourage investments in the sector.

The Textile Ministry would give full support to the industry in time of distress, Gupta said. Textiles and clothing exports were at $41.4 billion in 2014-15 and $39.31 billion in 2013-14. The slowdown in China is seen as an opportunity and is looking at $40 billion of textiles exports this fiscal.
