Kornit Digital to present latest textile printing technology at SGIA expo 2016

The Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun yesterday, August 24, said that the state is now positioned to exploit the entire cotton value chain, from growing the plant, to spinning and weaving in a ginnery, to production of textiles for clothing, furniture and other uses by the final consumer.

Cotton and its production is central to the economy of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The cottage industry in the state has mainly women but also men producing Adire, the local tie and dye fabric which they sell in the state’s markets and beyond to make a living.

Despite plunge in EU clothing imports from China in volume by 9.9 percent in the first three months of 2016 compared to corresponding period of last year, China remains by far the EU’s largest clothing supplier but a number of other countries gained market share, according to a new report from the global business information company Textiles Intelligence – Trade and trade policy: the EU clothing import market and its ten largest supplying countries.

The fifth edition of Galleria Intima 2016 that concluded earlier this month in New Delhi welcomed almost 2,000 visitors, more than 500 exhibitors and a thousand brands from across India and the globe, reported the Intimate Apparel Association of India (IAAI).

The event covered diverse aspects of the intimate apparel industry, including fabric, laces, fibre, machinery, packaging methodology, design trends, creativity, innovation and accessories.

The Chhattisgarh Government planning to develop ‘green’ Textile Park with world class eco system for the textile industry. For which the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) has identified a land parcel measuring 30 hectares at Village Khapri, Tehsil Tilda in Raipur district for the development of Green Textile Park.

The project will comprise of elaborate solid waste management practices, treated water supply system, storm water management, rain water harvesting and common effluent treatment plant.

Modernization in Turkish cotton industry expected to rise demand

Turkey's cotton industry have started investing in new technology as the result its domestic cotton consumption is expected to rise to 6.89m 480 pound bales, a ten year high next year and up 115,000 bales from the previous session, the USDA’s official said.

According to the US Department of Agriculture's bureau in Ankara, Turkish textile exports has raised due to increased sales in Europe, as well as thawing relations with Russia.

Political instability among many of Turkey's neighbours is forcing the industry to focus on competing in the European markets.

A special highlight of the upcoming second edition of the Yarn, Fabric & Accessories Trade Show (YFA) Show which will run from November 23 (Wednesday) to 26 (Saturday), 2016 will be the Denim Zone, which will see 20 top Indian denim fabric makers exhibiting their denim innovations.

Another highlight is ‘YFA Talent’, a fashion designing contest for upcoming talent from leading fashion designing institutes. To add an icing to the cake, the organizers have also arranged a conference in association with TIT-Bhiwani and the Textile Association of India (TAI).

ASF price remains unchanged in Asian markets

In China, medium-length staple fiber and cotton-type staple prices remained unchanged in the second week of August. Many yarn and fabric makers in Zhejiang will remain close for G20 Summit. Thus, demand for ASF will remain soft.

Sinopec released settlement prices for July for 1.5D ASF unchanged at 12.60-12.70 Yuan a kg (US$1.89-1.91 a kg) and 3D tow at 12.90-13.20 Yuan a kg (US$1.94-1.98 a kg). Offers for Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow was at US$1.55-1.65 a kg while regular specs was at US$1.50-1.55 a kg, both rolling over on the week.

Acrylonitrile price rises amid tight supply

Asian marker, the CFR Far East Asia was up US$25 a ton in the second week of August. In China, offers for offshore cargoes were hiked US$30 a ton CFR. Acrylonitrile prices in Asian markets were lifted by tight supply and low inventory across supply chain. Although, Taekwang's upstream PDH unit restarted last week, supply availability remained limited.

In Europe, acrylonitrile price rose on bullish fundamentals as demand outweighed supply, which is currently tight. European acrylonitrile was also up US$20 a ton on the week.
