Prices of seed cotton seen touching season's high at cotton market

At the cotton market on Monday amid persistent demand for quality cotton, prices of seed cotton was seen touching season's new high at Rs 3500, dealers said. According to some brokers, it is expected that prices of fine quality may up due to rising demand against the short supply.

The official spot rate remained unchanged at Rs 6,550, dealers said. In both Sindh and Punjab, seed cotton prices were higher by Rs 100 to Rs 3300-3500, as per 40 kg, respectively. In ready business, around 20,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 6700 and Rs 6900

Nylon yarn price moves up amid rising input cost

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices were up US cent 1 a kg in the second week of August while FDY40D were stable on the week. Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were up US cents 5 a kg on the week while 30D/10F were flat on the week. Nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices rose US cents 4 a kg while monofilament 30D prices rolled over during the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices trended upward to take respite from operational pressure on the back of rising raw material cost. In China, nylon yarn cut operating rate to 60% amid cautious sentiment and facing negative margins.

Caprolactum prices surge in line with benzene cost

Asian caprolactum markers, the SE and FE were up US$30-50 a ton in the second week of August. In China, offers for liquid spot were at US$1,715-1,730 a ton while solid goods offers were slightly higher at US$1,775-1,800 a ton. Sinopec August contract price nomination was steady for liquid goods.

Caprolactum markets in Asia saw activity picking up rapidly boosted by the dramatic surge in benzene cost and prices firmed up amid decent liquidity. Meanwhile, contracts for July were concluded higher compared with values in June largely due to an on-going tight supply in the region.

Cambodian government making efforts to stimulate traditional silk production have had moderate success and steady sales of silk products in the Kingdom.
