Renewed buying by spinners helped the volume of business improve at the cotton market on Thursday, dealers said. According to the market sources, spinners were looking actively to make new deals for the near future.

In Sindh, seed cotton prices were higher by Rs 200 to Rs 3000-3300, while in Punjab, phutti rates rose by Rs 300 to Rs 3200 and Rs 3550, as per 40 kg. The official spot rate remained unchanged at Rs 6350.

In India, viscose yarn markets in December were strongly supported by export orders. 30s viscose prices rose US cents 5 a kg in Indore market during the month.

Spun viscose yarn markets were generally steady in China. In Xiaoshan, 30s spun viscose were unchanged on the month.

In Pakistan, viscose spun yarn prices rolled over as export markets were relatively slow during the month. 35s viscose yarn were pegged stable in Karachi.

Spun polyester yarn offers In China moved up in December in line with rising PSF values despite lusterless demand. In Shengze, offers for 32s polyester yarn were up US cents 13 a kg from November.

In Pakistan, PSF prices rose as demand from yarn producers was boosted by a large price difference between cotton and polyester. 30s spun polyester was up US cents 2 a kg on the month.

In India, spun polyester prices did not react to the rise in PSF prices since early December. However, 30 polyester knit yarns were up US cents 3 a kg in Ludhiana market.

At the annual Heimtextil fair, the world's largest home textile exhibition, currently taking place in Frankfurt, Germany where a total of 23 home textile companies from Bangladesh are participating in the four-day fair that began on Tuesday receives positive response from international retailers.

The cotton market remained steady on Wednesday as spinners generally preferred to buy domestic stocks. Earlier, most spinners were holding their hopes to import cotton from India.

The Karachi Cotton Association’s spot rates were steady at overnight level.

Brokers said that Indian cotton prices have risen by around five US cents from 76 to 81 cents a pound on the expectation of huge imports by spinners from Pakistan and smaller than anticipated crop earlier.
