At the 80th edition of the Pitti Immagine Filati exhibition to take place in Florence, Italy, SHIMA SEIKI ITALIA S.p.A., the Italy-based subsidiary Japan-based computerized knitting machine manufacturer SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD., to participate in the Fashion At Work section of the exhibition.
The Fashion At Work section is aimed at appealing to the technical and creative interests of visitors by providing hardware and software solutions for design, manufacturing and processing of knitted goods.

Nylon yarn price soars in Asia

In China, FDY70D/24F SD prices surged US cents 10 a kg in the first week of January while FDY40D soared US cents 10 a kg on the week. DTY 70D/24F prices were up US cents 11 a kg while 30D/10F rose US cents 14 a kg on the week.

Monofilament 30D prices were up US cents 7 a kg, while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices were stable on the week.

Nylon filament yarn producers hiked offers further to relieve cost pressure as nylon chip and caprolactum prices picked up on the week. For demand, as it was opening of the New Year, converters adopted cautious attitude towards operation.

Caprolactum prices flat to up in China

Asian caprolactum markers, SE and FE, were flat in the first week of January. In China, spot offers for liquid goods moved up while solid goods were stable on the week.

Caprolactum markers in Asia were flat on the week while prices inched up in China on the back of moderate demand amid tight supply and surging benzene cost. In China, liquid caprolactum offers in spot market moved up while mainstream values for solid goods edged down. Offers for East European goods were firm.

Viscose yarn price inches up in China

In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s yarn rose US cents 5 a kg in the first week of January, while siro‐spun 40s yarn was up US cents 5 a kg on the week.

Viscose spun yarn market in China shared the sentiment of VSF market that week. Yarn makers were overselling on support of ample order intakes. After New Year Day holidays, offers for ring‐spun 30s yarn and siro‐spun 40s yarn were pegged higher, but actual trading was modest as downstream converters adopted a cautious approach.

Blended yarn price remains range bound in Asia

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices rolled over in the first week of January (however, prices were up US cents 2 a kg due to weak US$) while 45s PC combed yarn prices were stable on the week (up US cents 3 a kg due to weak US$).

Blended yarn prices have remained stable in the week in China, in line with a weakness in demand, whereas fiber prices were far from receding. Spinners were forced to maintain their offers in order to keep maintain their already low margins. They were also complaining over the large volume of foreign yarns entering the country, especially from India.
