Yorkshire’s top textile producers to exhibit its textile potential at Intertextile

A group of Yorkshire's top textile producers with the support with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFA) to attend one of the industry’s biggest exhibitions ‘Intertextile’ held in China's largest city. As Intertextile is an excellent showcase to demonstrate the region's textile potential.

Five companies from West Yorkshire are part of a 16-strong UK delegation attending 'Intertextile' from 20 to 23 October 2014, highlighting the fact that Yorkshire represents the biggest single manufacturing cluster of wool textiles in the UK.

They are Guiseley-based Abraham Moon & Sons, whose clients includes Paul Smith and Burberry; Bower Roebuck of Holmfirth; Bradford-based Joseph H Clissold; Huddersfield's Fine Worsted's; and Taylor and Lodge, which provided the luxurious material for the Tom Ford tuxedo worn by Daniel Craig in the Bond film Quantum of Solace.

All will have the chance to explore new market opportunities, learn about next season's trends and meet potential customers.

Mark Robson, UKTI's regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber, said that Yorkshire fabrics are highly regarded in the textile industry, and the county has a great legacy of weaving, design and manufacture.

According to UKFA's Ann Thomson-Krol, the Grand Depart in Leeds in July has had a huge impact on bringing the international spotlight onto textiles "Made in Yorkshire".

The international interest in UK textile provenance is currently experiencing a huge upturn, with international buyers recognizing the prestige attached to garments made from authentic British fabric.
