New York-based apparel brand Wulcea has introduced a range of electrically heated jackets featuring its proprietary GrapheneNano technology. The system uses flexible graphene-based heating elements as an alternative to conventional embedded electrical wires, which can restrict movement and create uneven heat distribution.
Designed for outdoor activities and cold-weather use, the collection aims to provide targeted warmth while maintaining garment flexibility and reducing reliance on bulky winter layers. The heating system uses far-infrared technology and offers three adjustable temperature settings.
According to Wulcea, the jackets begin generating heat within three seconds and provide up to 10 hours of continuous heating on the lowest setting, powered by an 18,400 mAh rechargeable battery. Operating at 12V, the system incorporates thermal controls that automatically interrupt heating if internal temperatures exceed 55°C.
The collection includes hardshell jackets for outdoor work and winter sports, softshell garments for everyday wear and heated vests designed for layering. The men’s hardshell jacket features six heating zones across the neck, upper back, lower waist and front pockets, while the women’s ski jacket includes six zones extending to the upper arms, neck, back and pockets.
Wulcea says its graphene heating elements are designed to improve comfort and durability compared with conventional wired systems. However, the company has not disclosed comparative performance data validating these advantages. The collection highlights the use of flexible conductive materials in apparel, combining integrated heating technology with functional outerwear design.
