WTRLSS introduces denim dyeing technology to cut water use

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-08-19 13:27:51 – USA

WTRLSS, a new biotechnology company headquartered in Los Angeles, is introducing a new approach to denim manufacturing that could significantly reduce the resources used in dyeing and finishing.

The company’s new digital dyeing technology reduces water use to approximately two tablespoons. By simplifying the traditional multi-stage dyeing process into a single step, the technology is designed to reduce water consumption by up to 99.9% and energy use by around 90%.

The process removes the need for several wet and dry stages, including dye baths, wash-off processes and water-based pre- and post-treatments. It also avoids the use of certain toxic chemicals. Along with reducing environmental impact, the technology could lower costs related to water use, wastewater treatment and water recycling.

WTRLSS plans to launch as an ingredient brand, working with fashion and textile companies and allowing its technology to be identified on finished garments.
