Women's cycling brand creates collection using Fulgar’s biodegradable yarn

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-07-26 10:00:24 – Italy

Sher, an innovative high-performance cycling apparel brand dedicated to women that do not sacrifice style has incorporated Fulgar's green portfolio for its latest collection.

Sher, which was founded in 2019 by Sara Canali, a fashion and sports industry specialist, is reaffirming its commitment to developing textiles, materials, and methods that increase performance while reducing environmental impact.

Fulgar and other textile businesses have been picked by the brand as leading partners in the field of research and sustainable development, to follow it on its ethical and innovative journey, always with the goal of decreasing raw material waste and minimizing environmental effects.

The result of the partnership is Sher's first capsule collection with an emphasis on biodegradability, consisting of 4 new designs. Two women's cycling bib shorts and two gravel shorts are all made with the Fitter fabric, which is made using Amni Soul Eco, a biodegradable 6.6 polyamide yarn.

The clothes are reported to be extremely comfortable due to their superior moisture management capabilities, which keep the skin cool and dry.

Amni Soul Eco, the product of Solvay Group research in partnership with Fulgar, a Made in Italy excellence and market leader in the area of innovative and eco-sustainable man-made yarns, provides revolutionary biodegradation times. Amni Soul Eco biodegrades in around 5 years if properly disposed of in a suitable anaerobic landfill.

By using Amni Soul Eco, Sher's fabric is rapidly and totally biodegradable, while maintaining the intrinsic qualities of a durable product. The new Sher series is touted to be the ideal product for cycling since it is lightweight but still covers the legs, is breathable, quick-drying, abrasion resistant, has a decent amount of compression to offer support to the legs when riding and has a UPF 50+ (the maximum degree of protection for a fabric) protection rating. The new Sher line is touted to be the best solution for all ladies seeking exceptional performance (comfort and good moisture control) without sacrificing environmental responsibility.

Alan Garosi, Fulgar's Head of Marketing, said that thanks to the potential of their green and functional yarns, they’re delighted to join Sher on their path towards more sustainable and high-performance designs. This is a significant recognition of their more than ten-year dedication to environmentally friendly research and development for an ethical and more green supply chain, especially in the sports industry.

Sara Canali, the brand's founder, said that sustainability is a topic that is very much felt by their customers, who are increasingly aware and sensitive, and who direct their purchasing choices towards products that are 'clean' in every aspect of their life cycle, made with intelligent materials that contribute to the progress of the future of textiles. This is why they’ve chosen to work with the greatest partners, such as Fulgar, to begin a path toward more environmentally friendly manufacturing while maintaining performance and quality.
