WIRA unveils advanced Fibre Fineness and Moisture Meters

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-11-13 15:02:54 – Singapore

UK-based WIRA Instrumentation presented its new Fibre Fineness Meter at the recent ITMA Asia + CITME exhibition in Singapore. The instrument allows textile mills to quickly measure the average diameter of wool and other fibers using the reliable airflow principle, helping improve testing efficiency in production environments.

Equipped with a color touch-screen interface, the new meter offers user-friendly operation. Its built-in processor automatically manages the testing process and displays the results directly on screen, reducing manual effort and improving accuracy.

In addition to wool, special calibrations are available for other fibers such as glass, mineral fibers, cotton, cashmere, and mohair. The device can also include an optional temperature and humidity probe for automatically recording laboratory conditions during testing.

Alongside the Fibre Fineness Meter, WIRA also introduced the RapidPro hand-held moisture meter in Singapore. Designed to measure textiles, nonwovens, and related materials, RapidPro delivers instant moisture readings through a compact, ergonomic design.

“This latest technology for fast moisture measurement includes multiple built-in calibrations, so mills no longer have to rely on a one-size-fits-all solution,” said Katie Brydon, Sales and Marketing Manager at WIRA. “Custom calibrations can also be added easily to the unit’s memory for specific materials.”
