Welspun India Ltd., a leading home textiles company to foray into flooring solutions by setting up a Rs600 crore carpet facility manufacturing carpets, area rugs and carpet tiles in Anjar Gujarat. With this plant their focus towards home textiles will be strengthened. The foundation stone has been laid for the new facility.

B K Goenka, chairman, Welspun Group said that the new carpet plant to be commissioned in next 12 months and is expected to generate a revenue of around Rs1,000 crore of the group. Moreover, it will create large import substitutes. In next 2-3 years, they are expecting a growth of 10-15 percent.

The new carpet facility coming up in the Kutch region will have an annual capacity of approximately 7 million square meters, with most of the capex to be done over next 18 months. Welspun India looks to create direct and indirect jobs of over 7000 through the new facility.

Welspun believe that this segment will benefit from the synergies with their existing product line and customer base thereby creating strong growth opportunity for the domestic as well as international market. The investment represents their ongoing pursuit of expansion and is a testimony of their strength as one of the leading manufacturers globally. Also the flooring solution has immense potential as a growing business.
