VF Corp launches enhanced traceability product maps

VF Corporation, one of the world’s largest apparel, footwear and accessories companies, enhanced its traceability mapping program by revealing Tier 1 through Tier 4 supplier information in a consolidated, downloadable file, bringing an unparalleled level of industry transparency. Offering supply chain insight through Tier 4 suppliers indicates the company's commitment to ongoing improvement and increased openness, as described in Made for Change, its corporate sustainability, and responsibility policy.

Shanel Orton, Director, VF Responsible Materials and Traceability, said that traceability is critical to establishing an ethical and sustainable supply chain, and it promotes benefits for both people and our planet. The additional data allows them to further validate adherence to VF's standards and supplier criteria throughout their supply chain, providing their teams, stakeholders, and consumers with more confidence that their goods are created responsibly.

VF has emphasized traceability and has invested in a project to map 100 of its most famous items by December 2021. Currently, the company has 46 product maps available online.

VF can now trace the entire supply chain, from raw materials conversion through product distribution, thanks to better data collecting. The data can be used by the company's teams to discover the potential for sustainability or worker well-being improvements throughout its worldwide supply chain.

Furthermore, the data is translated into both geographical maps and a traceability disclosure list, which is published on the company's website. The enhanced disclosures provide stakeholders and consumers with visibility into previously unavailable levels of VF's supply chain, as well as increased information into the origins of VF products.

Orton added that they're on a mission to generate good change across their global supply chain while also improving trust between VF and its suppliers, stakeholders, and consumers. They feel this audacious step enhances their standards and establishes an even higher bar in their business.
