Ventile, a textile company based in Switzerland, is strengthening its collaboration with the Egyptian Biodynamic Association (EBDA), a group that focuses on organic and regenerative farming. Together, they're working on helping farms in the Nile Delta region transition to more sustainable farming practices.

This project will specifically benefit Salsol Farm and Ramadan Kamel Farm, helping them become experts in cultivating ethical and regenerative organic cotton for textile production. Farmers will undergo training sessions and consultations with agricultural engineers from EBDA. The program has already included workshops on new techniques, biodynamic fertilization, and pest control.

According to Daniel Odermatt, Ventile's brand director, only a tiny fraction of the world's cotton (0.04%) is classified as extra-long-staple organic. To create a more sustainable industry, it's crucial to invest in environmentally friendly sources, prioritize farmers' well-being, maintain soil fertility, and reduce pollution.

With Ventile's support, these farms are expected to continue making progress in these areas. EBDA's co-executive director, Justus Harm, explains that Ventile's ongoing support helps train regenerative agriculture farmers, allowing them to transform their land into self-sustaining, biodynamic farms.

Announced earlier this year, the partnership between EBDA and Ventile aims to assist the farming association's 2,380 members in adopting regenerative practices. This transition will also help them compete in the global market where there's growing demand for organic cotton.
