Vegan label Miomojo expanded into yoga wear

Cruelty-free accessories brand Miomojo, has expanded into yoga wear. The Kind yoga collection is created in Italy and includes breathable, recycled fabric leggings and tops, a hoodie, and two yoga bags.

The Kind yoga collection consists of a leggings and top combo, made of soft, eco-sustainable nylon regenerated from textile waste, as well as a matching hoodie made of organic cotton and recycled polyester. When compared to virgin materials, the use of recycled materials results in 90% reduced water consumption and 80% less CO2.

Melissa tote bag and Irene mat holder are also created in Italy, using recycled polyester from PET bottles. Miomojo claims that the items have been tested and certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) in every step of the production chain. There is 86% less water, 75% less CO2, and 70% less energy consumed as compared to virgin materials.

Miomojo said that they’re constantly searching the globe for innovative materials that are not harmful to animals or the environment. They now use recycled materials such as fishing nets, plastic, glass, and coffee, as well as new alternatives to animal leather and recycled organic fibers such as bamboo and mint. They’re also looking into novel lab-grown materials like mushroom leather.

The Italian label has also begun the process of becoming a B Corporation and is already a Benefit Company, which means that it goes beyond profit and balances ethical and economic benefits.

Both the yoga wear and the yoga bags are available on the Miomojo website. The yoga set costs 112 euros (about 130 US dollars/96 British pounds), the hoodie 65 euros (roughly 76 US dollars/56 British pounds), the tote bag 86.50 euros (roughly 100 US dollars/74 British pounds), and the mat holder 50.50 euros (roughly 60 US dollars/43 British pounds).

DHL Go Green is used to ship all products in order to lessen the environmental impact by compensating for CO2 emissions. All of the packagings are constructed from recycled paper and a low-impact, biodegradable corn starch substance. By the end of the year, the company aims to have made all of its items entirely out of recycled materials.

Miomojo also donates 10% of its net profit to international animal welfare organizations like Four Paws, Animals Asia, and Mercy for Animals. In addition, the Bergamo-based firm has joined 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of its annual profit to the international environmental organization.
