Vegan fashion brand Apparis launches plant-based outerwear collection

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-09-14 12:28:47 – USA

US-based vegan fashion brand Apparis, has launched a plant-based outerwear collection aiming at being 100 percent sustainable and vegan. The capsule features 11 kinds of bio-based fabrics, powered by corn and hemp: KOBA® faux fur and CANNABA vegan wool.

KOBA® faux fur is made up of a blend of recycled polyester and Sorona fiber derived from corn-based components. By using the KOBA® faux fur fabric, they're minimizing the use of energy by 30% and gas emission by 63% compared to traditional practices.

The color palette consists of a range of earthy tones to vibrant hues including oat, strawberry, plum, apple red, fern green, and noir. Every coat has a rainbow print on the inside, which is meant to represent nature's natural curves. The capsule will cost between $425 and $725. The increased price point reflects the capsule's use of sustainable plant-based textiles and sophisticated, intricate designs. The collection's average retail price is under $400.

A double-breasted, mid-thigh-length coat made of plant-based Koba faux fur to an oversize silhouette with broad sleeves and a tone-on-tone belt made of plant-based Cannaba faux wool fabric are among the styles available in the collection. A warm mid-length coat with an enormous shawl collar made of plant-based Cannaba imitation wool fabric is also the part of the collection.

The capsule is available at Shopbop, Nordstrom, Elyse Walker, Neiman Marcus, and other specialty stores in the United States and Europe, as well as on apparis.com. A fall pop-up shop for the brand is located at 27 Prince Street in New York.

Lauren Nouchi, the co-founder of Apparis, said that while Apparis has always been animal-free, they are constantly working to improve their sustainability. Creating their first-ever plant-based capsule is a big step for them in honoring their commitment to the environment, as they feel that vegan fashion is the way of the future. This capsule is a celebration of the planet; it was critical for them as a company to pay attention to mother nature's natural beauty during such a trying time; in fact, the custom recycled rainbow lining is a nod to mother nature. All of the elements are represented in the design: trees, water, fire, and rock.

Nouchi added that they also hope that this capsule collection will raise awareness of the faux fur industry's innovation and that while there is still much more that can be done, this is a good start.
