The Government of Uzbekistan has started a regenerative agriculture programme for cotton in partnership with the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) and blockchain platform Bizpando. For this initiative, the government has allocated 55,000 hectares of land.
This collaboration was made official when Uzbekistan’s Agriculture Minister, Dr. Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, visited the ICAC headquarters in Washington, DC, along with senior officials Javlon Raimov and Abrorbek Kosimov.
During the visit, Dr. Abdurakhmonov, ICAC chief scientist Dr. Keshav Kranthi, and Bizpando CEO Jasper Bhowmick signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to confirm their joint commitment to the programme.
Before the MoU was signed, Dr. Kranthi conducted a three-day training session at the Cotton Research Institute in Tashkent from 21 to 23 October 2025. Around 50 participants, including scientists and government officials, attended the sessions, which included both classroom learning and field demonstrations. The Ministry of Agriculture is currently selecting laboratories that can be accredited and certified for carbon testing.
