UP govt decides to revive nine closed spinning mills

Revival plan of closed spinning mills in UP state are being worked out. On Thursday, UP chief secretary, Jawed Usmani directed authorities to prepare a formal proposal detailing on the plan of action to revive the mills. As the government of UP decides to revive nine closed spinning mills, apparently in a move to project state government as pro-industrialisation and provide job opportunities to nearly 10,000 persons.

The nine mills which have been taken up include the ones located in Amroha, Baheri (Bareilly, Mauaima (Allahabad), Bahadurganj (Ghazipur), Fatehpur, Kampil (Farrukhabad), Nagina (Bijnor), Maghar (Sant Kabirnagar) and Bulandshahr.

The mills will be provided to the ‘user party’ for a lease of 10 years. The party will not be provided any loan on the property, instead, on the working of the mill on “how and where” basis. The user will not only bear the cost of plant-machinery and its maintenance but also the cost of loading and unloading material.

Usmani said that the working of mills will generate revenue of around Rs 10 to 12 crore per annum. Likewise, utilities like UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) will also benefit by around Rs 45 crore.
