Twisted X, a footwear company based in Dacatur, Texas best known for its cowboy boots, has achieved net-zero emissions and is working to preserve its carbon neutrality.

The qualification comes as the result of a review of 2020 emissions from the company's headquarters and third-party distribution warehouse in Texas, as well as its contract factories in Mexico and Asia. Twisted X was originally expected to accomplish this milestone in 2022.

As part of the company's overall partnership with the reforestation organization One Tree Planted, emission levels determined using the GHG Protocol were mitigated through a carbon offset conservation project. Twisted X received 3,000 tonnes of carbon offsets from the American Carbon Registry on behalf of a project headquartered in Vermont on a 5,408-acre forest that will be left “forever wild” as mature trees will continue to store carbon for many years to come.

Twisted X CEO, Prasad Reddy, said that they’re pleased to officially be a carbon-neutral firm after years of hard work and devotion toward making footwear that is also preserving our world. They worked hard to achieve this, not just to be able to claim they did something nice, but also to aid in the restoration of the environment.

Twisted X is committed to bringing a new invention or technology to market every six months, with a focus on its sustainability purpose whenever feasible. Zero-X, a no-glue shoe line, and Blend85, a novel footbed that uses 85% recycled foam from manufacturing waste to decrease pollution, were both recently launched. Sugar cane molasses, rice husk, cork, merino wool, bamboo, and bamboo charcoal were among the natural elements employed by Twisted X throughout the creation process. TWXTM alternative leather is made from upcycled leathers, as well as upcycled plastic water bottles that are woven into the company's patented textiles, ecoTWX, and ecoTWEED.

Twisted X hopes to upcycle 6.5 million plastic bottles from landfills and the seas by the end of 2021. In addition, through its collaboration with One Tree Planted, the brand will have donated the planting of over 400,000 trees, with one tree planted for each pair purchased from the ecoTWX and Zero-X collections.
