TUV Rheinland partners with digital chemical platform BHive

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-03-14 14:01:34 – Germany

TUV Rheinland and BHive have formed a strategic relationship to provide a seamless approach to chemical testing and management to the textile and fashion industries. TUV Rheinland and BHive will provide new and existing customers with a comprehensive service offering that covers the complete chemicals management process from input to process and output.

Consumers are becoming more aware of the environmental effect involved with the production of consumer goods. According to TUV Rheinland, producers are under increasing pressure from brands and retailers to boost chemical transparency and demonstrate good control of chemicals used throughout the production process, as the industry calls for cleaner and more sustainable chemicals management.

The BHive and TUV Rheinland, as partners in the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) program, want to promote industry best-practice tools and standards. The BHive is a ZDHC Performance InCheck authorized solution provider. TUV Rheinland is a ZDHC-accredited MRSL Level 3 certifier, wastewater, and sludge analysis laboratory, and academy training provider. The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) has accepted the organization as a Verifier Body and Trainer Body for the Facility Environmental Module (FEM).

Lars Doemer, managing director of GoBlu International Ltd., the company behind The BHive, said that they feel that their strategic relationship with TUV Rheinland is a significant step toward their common aim of hastening the phase-out of hazardous chemical products from textile manufacturing. Furthermore, they want to improve the industry's overall supply chain transparency. TUV Rheinland, as one of the world's leading testing service providers, is a powerful partner on this road to better chemicals management.

Mohammed Dkhissi, global field manager, Softlines from TÜV Rheinland, said that the BHive is a clever and innovative answer to the otherwise complicated process of chemical management. They’re increasing their sustainability service portfolio by working with The BHive. They are proud to now announce their joint goal of offering a seamless approach to sustainable chemicals management, which will help promote the use of safer chemical alternatives in textile production and provide increased visibility of the chemical supply chain to our clients in the fashion industry.
