TS focus to include Medak NIMZ in Japan Industrial Township

The Telangana state government seeks support of the Centre in set up Japan Industrial Township at Medak in the proposed National Industrial Corridor Development Authority (NICDA) which will immensely increase the investment competitiveness and attract more investors from the Asia Pacific region.

The setting up of NICDA between Central government and Japan is in the offing, which will be finalized in October, mostly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed tour to Japan in October or November.

The chief secretary Rajiv Sharma at a meeting with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) secretary Ramesh Abhishek and DIPP joint secretary Shailendra Singh at the Secretariat here on Wednesday requested to sanction the proposed Japan Industrial Township.

The state has already got National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) for Medak. Rajiv Sharma wanted the visiting DIPP officials to sanction the Japan Industrial Township near Medak NIMZ so that it would boost the investment opportunities of the state.

The chief secretary told the DIPP officials that setting up of Integrated Machine Tool Park, Research and Development and Technology Development Centre of Excellence and common engineering facility centre for textile machinery would definitely provide momentum to further investments in NIMZ.

The DIPP officials, who appreciated the efforts of the state government in launching the TS-iPASS and also the efforts put in for ease of doing business, agreed to include Telangana’s proposal to include Medak for the township. Japanese are willing to start around dozen such industrial townships in the country.

According to sources, Rajiv Sharma also sought the secretary DIPP to sanction around Rs 2,700 crore for NIMZ at Medak of which Rs1,050 was sought for Medak NIMZ which is required for preparing the master plan, layouts and also to provide internal infrastructure in the NIMZ and also Hyderabad Pharma City, which was also accorded NIMZ status.
