Trident Group, ICAR-NINFET to develop sustainable natural fiber textiles

Trident Group is strengthening its focus on sustainable textile innovation through a proposed strategic collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology (ICAR-NINFET), based in Kolkata. The initiative aims to accelerate the commercial development of next-generation home textile products made from natural fibers.

Under the partnership, both sides plan to jointly develop advanced textile products using fiber innovations such as linen-inspired cottonised jute, hemp, and linseed blends. It will combine ICAR-NINFET’s expertise in fiber research with Trident Group’s manufacturing strength, product development capabilities, and global market reach.

Trident Group will play a major role in industrial application and market integration by using its strong presence in the home textile sector to introduce sustainable fiber innovations to a wider customer base.

The collaboration will focus on advancing fiber processing technologies, including cottonisation, blending, spinning, weaving, and finishing, to create high-value sustainable textile solutions. The project is also expected to support the growth of a stronger natural fiber ecosystem in India, encourage the use of sustainable alternatives, and strengthen the country’s position in global textile exports.
