TN proposes to set up integrated textile park in Ramanathapuram district

The Tamil Nadu Government announced that an integrated textile processing park has been planned at a cost of Rs 150 crore with Central grant which will to be set up in Ramanathapuram District.

Industries Minister M C Sampath told the state assembly that the park would come on a 225 acre land in Manakudi village under Thiruvadanai Taluk.

The facility upon operational would have 30 textile processing units with a capital outlay of Rs 450 crore and create 6,000 jobs. Besides, a desalination plant to supply water will also be established at the facility.

To receive the environmental clearance and coastal regulatory zone (CRZ) clearance for the project, the CRZ maps and study report has been submitted to the CRZ Comittee and project approval was "expected" shortly.

Also proposals has been sent to obtain grant from the Centre approval was awaited.
