The House of LR&C attains B Corp certification

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-03-04 05:57:58 – USA

The House of LR&C is pleased to announce that it has been certified as a B Corporation®. Companies that satisfy the highest standards of social, environmental, and economic performance are given this unique certification. As a result of this certification, all of The House's brands, including Good Man Brand for menswear, LITA by Ciara for contemporary women's fashion, and HUMAN NATION for gender-inclusive streetwear, were examined to ensure they satisfied the B Corp guidelines' stringent requirements.

Christine Day, Co-Founder and CEO of The House of LR&C, said that sustainability and being a force for good have always been essential components of The House's foundation, and they're committed to holding themselves transparently accountable so their consumers don't have to choose between fashion and responsibility. They’re thrilled to be able to use this gold standard certification as a distinguished third-party verification of their continuous dedication to high-quality sustainable fashion. They like making excellent products an easy choice for people and the environment, and they will take full advantage of the additional advice and resources provided by this opportunity.

The House of LR&C achieved this designation after a rigorous verification process that reviewed its social and environmental efforts, joining over 4,500 Certified B Corporations worldwide and over 1,800 in the United States and Canada. The House of LR&C has always prioritized sustainable methods at all stages of the product development cycle, from design to consumer use, as a firm with a conscience.

The House established a simple matrix called The Goods Sourcing Mandate, based on the Textile Exchange's preferred materials standard, to ensure it's sourcing the most sustainable fabrics to create quality products that will last and to raise the bar for the fashion industry, with a focus on how clothes are made, what they're made of, and who's making them.

The House also provides 3% of net revenue to the Why Not You Foundation, which was founded by The House's co-founders, Russell Wilson and Ciara, in order to achieve its mission of having a good, high impact on people. The Why Not You Foundation is dedicated to encouraging today's young to lead with a "why not" attitude by focusing on education, children's health, and poverty alleviation.

Therese Hayes, Chief Sustainability Officer at The House of LR&C, said that a growing number of organizations are recognizing and emphasizing the necessity of truly sustainable measures. They're seeing this in areas like New York, where the Fashion Sustainability and Social Accountability Act, if passed, wants to make fashion capital businesses accountable for their role in climate change. Their goal has always been to break through the cluttered, greenwashed market and create a company whose roots are in giving the Love, Respect, and Care the world so desperately needs right now, and they're committed to collaboratively shifting the needle with their fellow B Certified companies.
