The Union Ministry of Textiles on Thursday signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with 15 States to create a strong operational framework for improving textile data systems under the Textiles-focused Research, Assessment, Monitoring, Planning and Start-Up (Tex-RAMPS) scheme.
According to an official statement, the agreements are intended to strengthen textile data systems across the participating States and Union Territories. Under the Tex-RAMPS framework, the initiative will support coordinated planning across major segments of the textile sector, including handlooms, handicrafts, apparel and technical textiles, with special emphasis on implementation at the cluster and district levels
The central sector scheme aims to enhance the reach, quality, timeliness and reliability of textile-related data and research. The MoUs were signed during the National Textiles Ministers’ Conference held in Guwahati. To support these reforms, the Ministry of Textiles will provide financial assistance in the form of an annual grant of ₹12 lakh (approximately US $13,000) to each participating State or Union Territory.
