Textile parks will spell kismet for weavers in Kurnool

The Government being aware that protection to the sector is required to be continued because of the pious obligation to protect the heritage of the State and support is required to be continued to offset the built-in cost handicap of the handlooms. Butta Renuka, Kurnool MP has promised that a textile park would soon be set up in her constituency Kurnool.

Kurnool is famous for handloom products, and many people of the area are involved with this activity.

Chenetha Vargala Aikya Vedika felicitated Renuka at Laxmi Venkateswara Kalyana mantapam in Kurnool on Sunday. At the function, Butta Renuka also assured to solve the problems of weavers. She vowed to construct weavers’ colony in the outskirts of Kurnool.

She also promised a special package to the Weavers’ Society, once a profitable institution, now running in huge losses at Yammiganur town.

MP Butta Renuka said that she had a meeting with the Union minister and explained him about the demands of weavers’, for which he responded favourably.

Vedika chariman N Sreenivasulu, general secretary Narahari Das, vice president VJV Sreenivasulu, leaders Butta Neelakantam and others were present.

The government’s focus of all its policy has been to provide a level playing field for the handloom sector, so as to enable the weavers to stand up on their own and face the market.
