The central management information system for Integrated Skills Development Scheme (ISDS) was launched on Wednesday by the Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar. The management information system (MIS) is developed with a view to monitor the progress of the ISDS scheme.
MIS will ensure transparency and also serve as skills exchange, enabling effective linkage between the industry who are potential employers and the training providers/trainees.
The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India had launched Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) keeping in mind the need to upgrade the skills of textile workers/handloom weavers, develop competitiveness in the textile industry and increase employability.
ISDS is a flagship scheme of Ministry of Textiles. The minister has also released the documentation on the good practices adopted at Shantipur Textiles Cluster in West Bengal.
Under the ISDS, it envisions to provide training of fifteen lakh persons in textile and allied sectors over the period of the 12th Year Plan.
The MIS would provide all necessary details, including the profiles of the trainees, training and placement details, apart from project level information. The MIS is equipped with generation of customised report for various relevant indicators of the scheme at any given point of time. This will enable the users to generate dynamic reports as per the requirement.
A provision at 0.5% of the budgeted cost has been made to meet the expenditure on the MIS and skills exchange, periodic evaluations, impact assessment and other contingencies.
