Dutch textiles innovation company ByBorre has raised €16.9 million ($18.3 million) in a series B investment that was spearheaded by a group of impact investors. Together with previous investors SHIFT Invest and Amsterdams Klimaat en Energiefonds, Invest-NL and VP Capital led the round (AKEF).

Charlie MacGregor (The Social Hub), Henk Jan Beltman (Tony Chocolonely), Patrick Munster (Scotch & Soda, Marie-Stella-Maris, Salle Privée), Bram de Zwart & Brian Garret (Hubs), Joris Pol (MediaMonks), and Geert-Jan Smits were among the angel investors that made contributions (Flinders). Long-term debt and a machine lease facility were offered by the scale-up banking group at Rabobank.

ByBorre will use the investment to strengthen its position as the top platform for sustainable textiles and to expand the company's international expansion in important regions like the US, the Nordic nations, and Italy. ByBorre will keep making investments in the creation of its platform, its design tool ByBorre Create, its ready-to-order textiles library, and the growth of its network of business partners.

Founder Borre Akkersdijk, said that they challenge the old while giving solutions for the future. The requirement for a textile design and development solution that matches commercial viability, good effect, and creativity is ever-increasing due to the rising demand for textiles. That is why they intend to stay.

To boost efficiency, productivity, and transparency throughout the textile supply chain, ByBorre has made significant investments in automation, material research, and data analytics. With the help of cutting-edge software, it intends to digitalize every step of design and production, giving users a "What You See is What You Get" (WYSIWYG) interface. In a user-friendly and interactive manner, ByBorre also provides specific information on the reduction of the environmental effect and emissions saved in all life cycle stages.

The platform gives users the resources they need to improve things and boost sustainability in the textile sector. Since the launch of ByBorre Create and ByBorre Textiles, its services, and tools have been utilized by a fast-expanding clientele of game-changing and up-and-coming businesses and innovators in the fields of fashion, interior design, automotive, product design, and architecture.

Rinke Zonneveld, CEO Invest-NL, said that Invest-NL is happy to announce its first investment in the textile industry, one of the sectors of the modern world economy that produces the most pollution. ByBorre's innovative platform technologies and services enable a transparent ecosystem and have the ability to fundamentally alter how textiles are designed and produced. They think it can significantly contribute to accelerating the shift to a carbon-neutral and circular economy by enabling this pioneer to scale up quickly.
