Ternua
Ternua, a sustainable clothing brand of outdoor activities based in Mondragón, Spain, is launching a line of technical climbing apparel made from eco-friendly textiles.
The collection includes T-shirts made from Recover Blue recycled cotton and polyester blends, as well as textiles from the Seacycle initiative, which collects plastics from the sea and mixes them with other recycled plastics and organic cotton before being handed in.
Meanwhile, Redcycle fabric is the result of a Ternua-led campaign that raised 12 tonnes of discarded fishing nets in the sea. The company then turned them into a light stretchy fabric that has been used to make climbing pants and Bermuda shorts.
The lightweight 40-liter Rope On backpack features a double central opening with a circular zipper and is made entirely of recycled materials. It has a water repellent treatment that is free of PFCs.
Ternua clothing is now worn by climbers from several mountain federations in Spain for both preparation and competition.
