Teijin Frontier to boost production of recycled polyester yarn

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-09-22 15:38:16 – Japan

Tokyo-based Teijin Frontier is set to expand its output of high-strength recycled polyester filament yarn, which is used in industrial products such as tyre cords, rubber reinforcements, and seat belts.

The expansion will take place at Teijin Polyester (TPL) in Pathumthani, Thailand, starting in November 2025. By upgrading upstream machinery, the company expects to increase production by around 620 tons annually.

The demand for recycled polyester filament yarn in industrial use is on the rise, driven by growing pressure for circular solutions, including the European Union’s End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) regulation announced in 2023. At the same time, there is a growing need for polyester yarns with advanced properties like high strength and flame resistance to meet safety standards in the automotive and industrial sectors.

The company now aims to expand sales of these yarns both in Thailand and worldwide, including through the Teijin Frontier network. Looking ahead, the improved machinery will also be used to produce newly developed high-strength recycled versions.
