The crowned princess of Sweden, Victoria opened 2020’s Stockholm Fashion Week from the Haga Palace. Victoria is also an iconic ambassador for the Swedish Fashion Sector. She presented her speech virtually and focused on sustainability and innovation.
The Royal Princess of Sweden has shown her support for the Swedish Fashion industry by giving an inspiring speech at the digital opening ceremony of Stockholm Fashion Week 2020. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Stockholm Fashion Week was launched digitally. The Crowned Princess, known for her influence in the sustainable fashion industry, spoke in English to the Swedish fashion Community from her home at the Haga Palace.
Princess Victoria referred to herself as a proud warrior of the Swedish fashion, and continued to highlight that the United Nations Goals must not be compromised amidst the pandemic. She further stated that as an alumni ambassador for Agenda 2030 she was concerned that time was running out.
She also stated that sustainability and innovation go beyond how clothing is made. She further added that with the challenges ahead, it was not only the clothes made that required to be innovative but also the way it is made as well as the way they are sold, distributed, worn and eventually recycled.
In appreciation of the Swedish fashion industry she concluded her speech by stating that the fashion industry was getting ready for a digital and sustainable future and she is pleased that the Stockholm Fashion Week has chosen these issues to be addressed. She believes that the Swedish fashion industry will set a positive example to inspire the rest of the world.
Catarina Midby, Swedish Fashion Association’s Secretary-General stated that they were extremely pleased to have the support of the Crowned Princess. They further added that they couldn’t have wished for a better ambassador for the Swedish fashion and are proud to have presented the Stockholm Fashion Week speech on a digital platform.
This Fashion Week is held twice a year with the motive of putting Stockholm and Swedish fashion brands on international markets. This event is held physically however due to the current circumstances it is pushed onto a virtual platform.
