YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-08-12 12:21:00 – United Kingdom

Stella McCartney has partnered with venture capital firm, Collaborative Fund to invest in and support entrepreneurs building a more sustainable future.

The SOS fund, will initially invest $200 million in climate solutions and founders for better businesses. McCartney said that she has been a part of SOS since "day 1" and that the organization has already invested in innovative and trailblazing businesses, such as Bolt Threads, the company that created Mylo leather.

Craig Shapiro, founder and managing partner of Collaborative Fund, said that beyond her work as an exceptional designer and entrepreneur, Stella is a well-known environmental activist, a champion of animal rights, a lifelong vegan, a pioneer in sustainable materials, and an overall great person.

As investments migrate to alternative materials, research from Infinium Global Research indicates that the vegan leather industry might reach up to 89.6 billion dollars by 2025.

The corporation said in a report published in 2020 that changing customer behavior and escalating environmental concerns are driving demand for animal-free products and leather alternatives.
