Star Fades International latest collection features sustainable finishing techniques

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-10-20 13:19:13 – USA

Star Fades International (SFI), a denim laundry based in Los Angeles, is showcasing its full spectrum of services with a new sustainably washed and dyed denim capsule collection.

The new "Natural Selection" collection includes 19 designs for men and women that were created using SFI's own sustainable finishing techniques as well as fabrics made with organic cotton, post-industrial waste cotton, and post-consumer waste cotton from Pakistan-based denim mill Artistic Milliners. In January, the mill purchased the wash plant in order to provide clients in the United States with supply chain 4.0 concepts and 360-degree design.

The collection features fabric dyed with Pure Color colors created from minerals, rocks, and sand and mordanted with a ZDHC/GreenScreen-certified sustainable mordant for the collection. After that, a few pieces were laser-finished.

It also features Artistic Milliners' Clear Fade technology, which uses 32% less water and 16% less energy than a traditional acid wash to mimic the effect of bleached or acid-wash jeans.

The SFI design studio, a company's one-stop-shop for denim design and development, has launched its second capsule collection. All customers can benefit from the team's expertise in denim design and fit, wash development, technical design, 3D design, fabric and trim procurement, market research, and trend forecasting.

The new collection expands on the company's inaugural capsule, "Denim Daydream," with bolder looks that are gaining traction as consumers return to work, school, and social gatherings in force.

Alaina Miller, vice president of design at SFI, said that Denim Daydream focused on creating that perfect denim wardrobe based on vintage-inspired classic denim pieces, while Natural Selection is a bit more playful and fashion-forward. This collection features head-to-toe styles with their take on all-over print, as well as tie-dye, coating, and biodegradable acid washes.

Miller added that the SFI capsules are seasonless and are intended to highlight Artistic Milliners' fabrics and SFI's wash capabilities, as well as inspire customers to use the fabrics, washes, and silhouettes into their own collections at any time of year.

A high-rise A-line skirt made of 60% organic cotton and 40% Tencel, a short-sleeve button-down shirt with a delicate animal design, and an oversized denim shirt with tie-dye effects is among the key items.
