Spinnova to commercialize wood-based fiber

Spinnova, a fibre innovator prepares to scale its sustainable fibre production. It has partnered up with two niche textile experts to aid commercialise its sustainable wood-based fibre. The company has also nominated four other team members.

The company has appointed Shahriar Mahmood as its director. Mahmood was working with the renowned Finnish children’s wear brand Reima. He has an academic background and also has in-depth knowledge of the textile industry. He is a chemical engineer by profession and has completed his Masters in engineering in Finland. He has also worked in the textile mills around Asia and Europe.

He is a circularity specialist and works intensively with material research and development. He also works towards the betterment of sustainable supply chain management. He has recently obtained a Ph.D. in sustainable management. Pertaining to Spinnova, Mahmood focuses on supporting sustainability efforts of partnering brands and related commercial phases of supply chains.

Janne Poranen, Spinnova’s CEO and co-founder stated that Shahriare brings the experience of many different phases of textile manufacturing to the table and in the team, he will be able to close the loop. She further states that she is excited to access his hands-on technical skills and in-depth knowledge of sustainability.

Spinnova’s right-hand textile expert Young Kim started as the senior fiber application specialist in Spinnova’s R&D team. She has previously worked for the fiber technology company Lenzing in Australia, where she worked under the technical customer service of technical applications. She will be in charge of developing Spinnova fiber’s quality and finishings.

Enja’s vast experience of cellulose-based textile fibers helps the company ensure that its fiber succeeds in partnering brand’s supply chains and end products.
