Skinwear launches antimicrobial seamless knitted masks

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2020-04-06 11:02:49 – United Kingdom

UK based seamless knitwear manufacturer Skinwear Ltd., has launched a series of antimicrobial seamless knitted masks, which are aimed at helping fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Skinwear’s seamlessly knitted masks are reusable, machine washable, tumble dryable, and are suitable for protection against possible infection, the company says.

The UK made masks are also CE marked and are made from an 88% polyester and 12% elastane mix, which will allow a stretch comfort fit. The masks are, importantly, antimicrobial treated and sell at £10.00 for a pack of two.

The Hinckley, Leicestershire headquartered company arose from the ashes of the well-known Davenport Knitwear company and can boast over 50 years’ experience of supplying fashion knitwear to the best UK brands and retailers.

In addition to producing knitwear, however, Skinwear is also a seasoned supplier to the healthcare sector. The company manufactures a range of eczema clothing called ‘Skinnies’, that are close-fitting, viscose garments in all sizes, shapes and colours to aid with the retention of moisturising creams on the skin. Being seamless really helps with sensitive skin issues, and we intend to expand the range with a silk product (proven to aid the control of eczema), the company explains. Skinnies are available on prescription in the UK.

For the last 10 years Skinwear has pioneered the use of Shima 12-gauge Wholegarment knitting machines which produce garments and accessories without any sewing seams.

“Our expertise covers all yarns from cashmere to synthetics, from fashion garments to complex knitted medical devices, and from small specialised projects to large production runs,” the company adds.

“Our ‘seamlessness’ enables the creation of beautiful, comfortable clothing with almost unlimited patterning/striping ability, thus allowing us to keep pace with the fashion industry and to create unique ranges of undergarments for the sports and medical markets.”
