Sekhani group, Ahmedabad based four decade old textile group involved in processing, dyeing, printing, embroidery and finishing of plain and pattern woven fabrics for apparel and furnishing sector announced on Monday announced their plan to invest Rs 500 crore in setting up a new plant manufacturing sanitary napkins at Sanand in a phased process.
As part of their expansion plans, the company has acquired 1 lakh sq mt of land in Sanand GIDC and will be investing Rs 150 crore in the first phase of setting up of the plant.
Wonder Wings, the sanitary napkin, will be manufactured at Sanand based facility wherein two fully automatic servo machines will be producing 1.2 million pieces of sanitary napkins per day and will gradually be ramped up.
Prakash Sekhani, MD of the company, said that they intend to invest and add more facilities in a phase-wise manner with an investment of Rs 500 crore. Their target is to make 800 million sanitary napkins annually. Also, they will be generating more than 1000 employment opportunities. This will be group's 4th factory in Gujarat with other 3 in the field of textile at Vatva industrial area of Ahmedabad.
Wonder Wings (Sekhani Group) is planning to tie up with NGO'S, government and institutions to create awareness on hygiene and improve quality of life amongst young girls and women by promoting the same in schools and colleges.
The group will be later setting up manufacturing facilities for baby diapers, adult diapers and other related products.
