SASA plans to invest USD 70mn for new fiber production plant

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2016-04-15 16:00:00 – Istanbul

SASA, a leading producer in the world for polyester staple fibers, filament yarns, polyester-based and specialty polymers and intermediates (DMT), announced that they plan to make investment of USD 70 million for the new fiber production plant. This was decided at the Board of Directors meeting.

The investment is made due to the company’s need to increase its present production capacity and market share; and the investment is planned to be applied in about late 2017.

At the end of investment, present fiber production capacity of SASA which is 160,000 tons/year will increase 100% up to 320,000 tons/year level; and it is expected that its contribution to the turnover will also be approximately USD 170 million per year.

SASA’s main production facility is located in Adana and established on a field of 1.000.000 m². Its raw material storage facility is located in İskenderun.

SASA also has its own raw material production plant. The DMT plant, established in 1977 with a capacity of 60.000 tons/year, now has the capacity of 280.000 tons/year thanks to investments made on different dates to meet an increasing demand. A great majority of DMT is used in domestic consumption, as well as a part of it being sold in solid state.
