The Platinum medal is the greatest honor a company can achieve for its environmental efforts, and it places SABIC in the top 1% of corporations assessed across the globe.
Bo Van Zeeland, General Manager and Chief Counsel Compliance at SABIC, said that this recognition comes at a critical moment when stakeholders across their global value chain are looking for firms that care about their people, communities, and the environment. They have a responsibility to ensure that their company develops long-term value with a presence in over 60 countries. This rating reflects their continual efforts to enhance its operations in order to fulfill all of their stakeholders' sustainability expectations.
SABIC was awarded a Platinum medal for sustainability by EcoVadis last year. SABIC was ranked in the top 1% of the best performers in the industrial category 'Basic Chemicals, Fertilizers, Plastics, and Synthetic Rubber Companies' by EcoVadis in 2019.
EcoVadis has built a worldwide network of over 75,000 rated businesses. The organization's sustainability scorecards provide an in-depth analysis of environmental, social, and ethical hazards in over 200 purchasing categories and 160 countries. The EcoVadis assessment is used to assess the quality of a company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management system.
EcoVadis focuses on four main areas in the management layers of policies, actions, and reporting on results, including the environment, labor, and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
