The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute is committed to advancing the circular economy by developing products and systems that benefit people and the planet.
The Institute provides the global standard for products that are safe, circular, and responsibly created through the Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Program. Designers, brands, retailers, and manufacturers across the value chain use Cradle to Cradle Certified to innovate and optimize materials, products, and systems based on the world's most advanced science-based measures for material health, product circularity, clean air, and climate protection, water and soil stewardship, and social fairness.
The Institute also drives the global shift to a circular economy through partnerships and collaborative initiatives that provide strategic roadmaps, technical frameworks, and future knowledge to businesses, governments, and other stakeholders to transform the way products are designed and manufactured.
The Rainforest Collection is made up of 99 percent bio-degradable materials, with each shoe component designed to have the least amount of environmental impact possible.
Roccamore founder and creative director Frederikke Antonie Schmidt, said that many fashion firms claim to be environmentally friendly, but only a handful are able to prove their influence on the environment and society. They’re overjoyed and delighted to be the first brand in the world to earn Cradle to Cradle Certified for high-heels. Achieving Bronze accreditation for their new collection is a major step forward for them.
In collaboration with the NGO TreeSisters, the company is also planting a tree for every pair of shoes sold.
