Resale start-up Thrift+ achieves B Corp certification

Fashion resale start-up, Thrift+, received an evaluation score of 82.4, earning B Corp accreditation.

B Corp, which is managed by nonprofit B Lab, is one of the strictest certifications that assesses the social and environmental effect of brands. More than 300 questions on governance, workers, communities, and environmental effect are covered by the certification.

Thrift+’s B Corp application included examples of its most recent accomplishments, including 400,000 articles of clothes recycled, over £2 million earned for charity through online resale, and 201,700kg of CO2 offset following a carbon footprint assessment.

The company has earned certification as a B Corp, joining a community of about 5,575 other companies worldwide. Over 950 businesses are represented in the UK B Corp community, with names like Patagonia, Chloé, and Ganni.

Joe Metcalfe, Founder of Thrift+, said that the Thrift+ team values being recognized as a B Corp. Moments like this make all the hard work in starting a purpose-driven company worthwhile. They are honored to be recognized and intend to keep raising standards throughout the company to make fashion a force for good.

Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, said that they’re pleased to welcome Thrift+ to the B Corp community. This is a movement of businesses that are dedicated to altering how business is conducted and think that business can actually be a force for good. They are confident that Thrift+ will be a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and will keep the dialogue moving.
